Thanks to all of those who called and sought me out to give me blankets and canned goods for our first annual blanket drive. We got over 55 blankets that went straight to the needy families of Lorain County as did all of your generous food donations. Thanks to the East Broad Laundromat for washing and drying the blankets as well as the members who went around and picked up the blankets and helped in washing you. Your help is greatly appreciated. And last but not least I need to thank Jennifer Vopat at the Chronicle, she placed the ad in the Christmas section for free and for that I and the recipients of the goods received are very grateful!

City Wide Food/Blanket Drive!

That's right ladies and gentlemen, City Wide Food Drive has recently gotten then OK from the Elyria Salvation Army and Elyria's own East Broad Street Laundry to wash any quilts or blankets that we get donated to us this holiday season. This winter is supposed to be a pretty cold one so PLEASE donate any blankets you might have around the house. We will also be accepting donations to go and purchase new pillows. These items as well as the food collected will benefit families right here in Elyria! Please contact me ASAP if you have any ideas or comments about how we can make this better! First, we are proud to announce that for the past several months we have been working with the Elyria courthouse to have people who have fallen on hard times and have broken the law to work their community service with us! They will be going door to door to gather up food for the Salvation Army!

Apples grocery store in Elyria has to agreed to us putting a box in their store for both Thanksgiving and Easter from now on. We'd like to take this time to thank the great people at Apples for seeing the problem that is affecting the residents of Elyria the county wide and taking a strong firm approach on this matter. Easter Food drive goes over big!

Our last food drive was a huge success gathering over 220 lbs worth of food including 80 bars of soap, Two 1 gallons of vegetables, 20 tubes of toothpaste and 34 toothbrushes and tons of canned goods. We really made an impact and all of that effort was due to the hard work of our great volunteers! It was also made possible by our businesses that got involved like Puffers Floral Shoppe, Donna's Diner, Stewart's Appliances, and the LaGrange McDonalds helping out with our food drive that benefited the LaGrange Lions Club and Elyria Salvation Army. All donations really made a huge impact were very well received by both parties. I'd also personally like to thank the great people at Super Printer and Scott Muska for the terrific fliers and Sam's Club for the bags used during the food drive.
